A promo card campaign works when the goal, offer and distribution are decided before the design. Here is the six-step plan our designers recommend to clients.
1. Set one goal
New customers, repeat visits, a product launch or a quiet-day boost? Pick one. It decides everything else.
2. Choose the offer
Make it simple and worth acting on: a fixed amount off, a free add-on or an invitation. Set an end date.
3. Decide how cards will reach people
- With every purchase for a set period
- At events, fairs or networking groups
- Through a partner business
- In parcels for online orders
This tells you how many cards you need.
4. Design the card
- Front: logo and the offer in large text
- Back: how to redeem, end date, short terms, and a QR code or web address
- Keep text away from the edges and supply artwork in CMYK
See promo card design layouts.
5. Track redemptions
Print a unique code, number or QR code so you can count how many cards were used, and where they came from.
6. Review and repeat
After the campaign, compare redemptions with cards handed out. Keep what worked for the next run.
